Casting

This is the 'story' so far...

It all started 4 weeks ago with making the positives in clay.

The butter and ice cream tubs I had kept for various reasons came in handy as 'boxes' to cast the moulds in.

Once the moulds had set it was time to get them out of the tubs, dig out the clay and then wait for them to dry. 

Today, 4 weeks later, I decided the moulds were dry enough to be fired. I filled with glass, put them in the kiln and now it's a 48 hr + wait until the glass is 'cooked' and they can be taken out...

And hopefully, once the pieces are cold worked, they should look similar to the one below...

Thanks for the lesson - now we know how you make those wonderful pieces. It's much more complex than you would think! Keep up the good work.
